A note from me to you -
I am thrilled to announce that I am running to become your next School Board Trustee in Ward 3 of the Winnipeg School Division.
I am passionate about public service and believe our schools should and can be as good or better than private. I know that students, parents, and our community as a whole expect excellence in every aspect of our educational system to ensure that the next generation is given all the tools they need to succeed.
Having gone through in the Winnipeg public education system I know it well. Throughout my educational career I have attended four post-secondary institutions, including studying International Studies and Modern Languages at the University of Ottawa and attending University Jean Moulin III in Lyon France. In my time at these various schools, I developed a deep understanding of the potential a robust public education system can deliver for all.
As an active community member and activist, I am proud to call Ward 3 home. I have worked on Parliament Hill and as a political organizer and have a popular TikTok account through which I engage, educate, and inspire people of all ages to participate fully in our democratic process. I have worked with several community organizations including the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, B’nai Brith Canada, Manitobans for Human Rights, and most recently, Manitoba Operation Blue Skies, helping Ukrainian refugees rebuild their lives in Winnipeg after fleeing Russia’s horrific war on Ukraine.
As someone who experienced the challenges of distance and virtual learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, I understand the stresses it posed to students and families. As a homeowner in Ward 3 I understand first-hand the difficulties families are still facing with rising inflation and climate change.
This is why education is more important now than ever. I believe that I have the experience, drive, and understanding of our political and educational systems to truly deliver the excellence in education our community deserves.
